Create a CLABE

The POST /spei/v1/clabes method enables you to create CLABEs on demand, and no limit exists on the number of CLABEs you can link to your Bitso account. You can only assign CLABEs on a one-to-one relationship to users and the use of CLABEs per transaction is strictly forbidden.

To create CLABEs, you must have approved the KYC compliance assessment, and the Multi-CLABE feature must be active in your account.

If the feature is deactivated, you can no longer create new CLABEs nor can you access the endpoint that turns CLABEs on or off. However, you can still use the rest of the API's endpoints, which retrieve information related to transactions completed using created CLABEs.

To maintain good practices in your operation and alignment with Banxico's records, do not reassign a CLABE that you had previously allocated to a person or legal entity to a different user. Banxico registers the user and its associated CLABE.

To create a CLABE, make the following HTTP request:

POST https://stage.bitso.com/spei/v1/clabes

A successful CLABE creation returns the following response object:

{
    "success": true,
    "payload": {
        "clabe": "710969000012345678",
        "type": "ADDITIONAL",
        "status": "ENABLED",
        "created_at": "2023-07-11T18:49:41"
    }
}

The service includes four types of CLABEs:

  • MAIN: This type is given to the CLABE created by default when Mexican business customers set up their Bitso account. This type of CLABE enables deposits and withdrawals.
  • ADDITIONAL: The service assigns this type to the CLABEs created by Mexican business customers. This CLABE type allows only deposits into the account.
  • INTERNATIONAL: The service gives this type to the CLABE created when non-Mexican business clients enable International Payments in MXN in their account through the Bitso web application. This type of CLABE allows deposits and withdrawals.
  • ADDITIONAL_INTERNATIONAL: The service assigns this type to the CLABEs non-Mexican business customers create. This CLABE type allows only deposits into the account.

Bitso advises keeping the created CLABES and the transactions related to these CLABEs in a database in your system.
